Birdbrain has taken the time to investigate the
shops in Manhattan. So if your not sure where to go, try a place
on our list. Whether you are thinking about buying a bird or simply
need good toys and hard to find supplies we have done the looking
for you. Please know that the shops on our list have not paid to
be on it and that the standing of the shops on our list is opinion
based on knowledge of supplies, cleanliness, and the appearance
of healthy, well adjusted birds. As our feet do the walking, more
shops will hopefully be on the list.
Places for Supplies
Sutton Aviaries

Simply the best shop in town. Although they no
longer breed and sell babies, their knowledge is outstanding. Their
toys are some of the best around. The birds housed at Sutton Aviary
are permanent residences as they are the owner’s companions.
What a treat to see such clean cages. Trays of the cages are cleaned
three times a day! Plenty of fruits and veggies for these guys.
Sutton Aviary boards birds and carries toys, food, cages, stands
and much more.
33rd and Bird
Chances are that if you can’t find a particular
food or weird supplies they’ve got it. Great for supplies,
but know what your looking for.
Places for Birds
Petco (17th St. Union Square)
Believe it or not this place has great birds.
The staff is knowledgeable and their birds come out of their clean
cages daily, get fruits and veggies, and have lots of toys. These
birds are well socialized and look healthy. Their babies are hand
fed on sight and come with health certificates and polyoma vaccinations.
